As every artist and architect knows, the design of each piece is a critical part of the process. Success depends on a good foundation. The ideas and concepts of the artists surround us as we work in the shop. These are turned into life size stencils to be used by the wood cutters. Rough sketches serve as models for the carvers. Lest we forget, notes and pictures to be used in the future are tacked on the wall alongside the work underway. It will all come together one day, some day, hopefully not too far in the future.
