CARVING Volunteer woodcarvers are needed to help create the carousel horses and chariots. Volunteers without carving experience, who would like an opportunity to learn this skill, are welcome. These volunteers would be assigned a beginning carving project, with progressive assignments in accordance with their developing skills. Carving volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. |

SANDING Volunteers who participate in sanding the carousel horses have one of the most important jobs within the project. Sanders assist the carvers by helping them envision the progression of their work. While simple in nature, sanding can and does have a great impact on the final look of the horse. For those who have never experienced the joy of sanding, our experienced volunteers will be happy to show you their favorite techniques for success. |

WOODWORKING We are seeking experienced cabinet makers and woodworkers to assist with the fabrication of the carousel horses and chariots, as well as refurbishing the rounding board framework, floor boards and other wooden components of the carousel. Woodworking volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. |

MECHANICS We are seeking experienced mechanics to work as a team in the re-assembly of the carousel machine. We have purchased a mechanism, currently in storage. While we are not yet ready to begin this aspect of the project, we would like to recruit a team of people who will create the working plan for its reassembly. |

ARTISTS We are seeking volunteer artists experienced in oil painting to help paint the beautiful murals in the rounding boards that will grace our carousel. The murals will recreate vintage postcards of Oakland Beach from the turn of the century to the World War II. |

BAND ORGAN The Oakland Beach Carousel Foundation is seeking volunteers to research options and compile specifications for new and used Band Organs to be housed in the completed carousel. |
|
GRANT RESEARCHING We are seeking volunteers to serve on our grant funding committee. Responsibilities would include researching funding opportunities and preparing grant proposals for every aspect of our project. |

SPONSOR A HORSE Maybe you don't have the time or inclination to be physically involved, but you support the idea of bringing a carousel back to Oakland Beach. What better way to support the project than to fund the construction of a horse. Your donation will be memorialized in a plaque mounted on the carousel beneath “your: horse. FUNDRAISERS & EVENT PLANNERS Join our Fundraising and Event Committee, which involves coordination of fundraising activities and soliciting donations to be used in fundraising events. Required skills include a willingness to promote the project to the community at events throughout the state. |

GRAPHIC ARTISTS We are also seeking volunteers to assist with our fundraising and event committee by creating flyers, brochures and other outreach materials to publicize the efforts of the Foundation and its volunteers. |
